Everyone knows that Thanksgiving and Christmas are huge travel times in the U.S.... but the weeks immediately surrounding those holidays are low periods. As soon as everyone returns home from their turkey-filled celebrations, nobody really moves much until right around Xmas..when the crowds start to head back to grandma's house to be with family. But then after New Years, travel falls right back down again and stays relatively low until the middle of February, when early spring break trips begin.
Every airline knows this, so every airline encourages people to fly during those off-peak times. After all, an empty seat on an airplane is perishable—once that flight takes off, it can never be sold. So the airlines do what they can to fill those seats even if it means deep discounts.
Case in point: Southwest just launched a 72-hour sale today that gives you 40 percent off fares from November 28–December 12 and January 7–February 14 if you enter BigDeal40 into the promo code box. There are a bunch of caveats here; for example, you have to fly roundtrip and no Sunday travel is included. And if you thought you were going to score a sweet deal to CES in Vegas this January, you're wrong. That's blacked out too. But for the truly off-peak traveler, this is a great deal.
The best part is that other airlines are matching these sale fares, and they aren't always applying the same rules. Need to fly from Chicago to L.A.? American will give you the same deal as Southwest without any promo code, and it doesn't seem to be applying blackout dates or requiring a roundtrip purchase. While I'd expect American might tweak the rules soon, jump on it quickly and you might get a screaming dea

Of course you don’t have to leave the ship at all! You can lounge, or “lime” on the deck all day, basking in the warm Caribbean sun with fellow passengers and crew as you enjoy lunch on board. If we’re at the beach, we may serve a picnic lunch ashore. Depending upon the port, you may be able to swim off the side of the ship under the watchful eyes of our crew.
Perfect endings to another perfect day In the late afternoon, they’ll serve up a delicious rum punch with an assortment of snacks. Our Captain or another crew member will be on hand to provide an overview of the evening’s activities, as well as a brief description of the next port of call.
Dinner may be a casual buffet or a sit-down dinner in the saloon or on the aft deck...but it’s never formal, with no assigned seating and no need to dress up. If you have any dietary restrictions, just let the chef know so he can accommodate your needs with a tasty alternative.
